本研究中心致力于野生病媒动物的行为生态学和种群生态学研究，了解野生动物在疾病传播中所起的作用和对疾病的传播规律，制定相应的预警和防治方法。目前主要采用分子生态学、种群生态学和行为生态学方法，开展蝙蝠种群遗传多样性分布规律、蝙蝠携带寄生虫、蝙蝠与病毒的协同进化、蝙蝠摄食行为等研究工作。团队自2006年成立以来，承担了国际合作项目、国家自然科学基金、广州市科技攻关重大项目、广东省科学院人才基金项目等10多项。在国内外学术刊物、学术会议上发表论文30余篇，SCI收录论文13篇。
